Album Number 10 For Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam is back writing and recording material for their 10th studio album. And the grunge legends have told fans to expect the unexpected.

According to a report on the Musicrooms website, guitarist Stone Gossard told Rolling Stone: "It's just us in the studio screwing around, not taking it too seriously. I think that's one of the biggest problems in rock is people thinking too much, putting too much emphasis on getting things perfect."

The timing is about right for a new Pearl Jam album. They usually release one every 2-3 years with 2009's Backspacer being their last effort.

"The most important thing is that we put something out that continues to expand our boundaries rather than trying to follow what we've done in the past," he said. "I think it's a good time to hopefully continue to experiment, and continue to shake it up."

"We want people to go 'Wow, that's kind of weird for Pearl Jam,' and then 10 years later they can go, 'Oh, that's my favourite period'."

And you know what a new album means? An Aussie tour! Bring it on, boys. We can't wait.

Currently, Pearl Jam is about to headline the upcoming Isle of Wight festival in June before doing dates across Europe in the summer.
